Central Georgia Technical College utilizes COMPASS, published by the American College Testing, Inc. (ACT). This test is computerized and is a state approved assessment instrument for testing applicants for program readiness. Central Georgia Technical College also offers ASSET, another state approved instrument published by ACT at the Putnam, Crawford and Twiggs Centers only.
Compass is given at the Macon and Milledgeville campuses and is a computerized test which includes Writing, Reading, Mathematics, and Algebra. This test is un-timed, and in multiple choice format.
Compass sample tests may be taken online. You may access the sample test on the link below. Students may review sample test questions and answers for any or all sections of the test.
Asset consists of a series of four tests including Writing, Reading, Numerical Skills, and Elementary Algebra and is only given at Putnam, Crawford and Twiggs. This test is a paper and pencil multiple choice test, with each section timed at 25 minutes.
Placement tests are required for admissions to CGTC. By using the study guides listed here, you will be better prepared on the test day.
