CGTC’s Move on When Ready Program Names Crawford County Student as Student of the Month
Warner Robins, Ga. – Central Georgia Technical College’s (CGTC) Move on When Ready (MOWR) high school dual enrollment program has named Crawford County High School freshman, Jada Popkoski, as its Student of the Month for February.
“I enjoy the Move on When Ready program because I have dual enrollment and it allows me to get a head-start on college,” Popkoski said. “I would love to encourage all students to participate in this program.”
Popkoski carries the highest average in her cohort and is described as being enthusiastic about learning. She is one of 50 students in the Microsoft Word Application Specialist Technical Certificate program cohort and is on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll.
Her cohort, one of the newest to MOWR through CGTC, offers a unique opportunity to incoming freshman. Recognizing the need for more than basic computer skills, the high school’s administration requested a MOWR program. In response to the request, CGTC, provides the certificate program to all qualified students.
Her instructor, Lori Harnist is dedicated to creating and maintaining a learning environment where high school students can thrive amidst this new college curriculum.
“All of my students demonstrate a strong dedication to their education and to learning new material, no matter the level of complexity,” said Harnist.
In 2015, the Georgia General Assembly passed a law that streamlined the existing dual enrollment programs statewide. The measure has combined pre-existing programs under the heading of MOWR, which allows students to earn high school and college credits simultaneously.
